mid-term report

1. What have you accomplished this term?

This term I accomplished many things. The most important I think would be the 50 iMacs project.

At first, I thought that I would just be able to take out the mac "logic board" and put a PC motherboard in its place. However, it wasn't as simple as that, and it ended up that I had to take everything out and simply replace it with all PC parts, not just the motherboard.

To see a complete report on how a amccomplished this task, visit my wiki. However, I will say that the computer was mostly held together by zip ties. The motherboard was screwed into a wooden mounting, which was hled in by zip ties on top of the hard drive and DVD-ROM drive, also held in place by zip ties. The power supply is hanging from the top of the case, also held in place by zip ties. The iMAC now runs windows XP and has a 40gig hard drive.

2. What are three things you want to do before the end of the term?

Before the end of the term, one of the things that I want to do is to finish my 50 iMacs project by putting an LCD monitor in the computer.

I also want to make a custom side panel for my computer, with LEDs on it of every color.

One last thing I want to do is to bring my completely K-NEX computer/calculator from concept to reality. This will take a large period of time, and might not be done in this term.

3. What do you need to be successful in #2?

TO be sucessful in #2, I need an AC/DC power adaptor with the wattage that the LCD monitor needs. I also need alot of K-NEX if I want to get the calculator to work.
